Squamish's Minor Titans are a major league threat.
The team is in second place in its division of the Gordon Sturtridge Football League.
"We've got a really good team," said Eric Frappier, one of the coaches. "One of our rookies (Benjamin Groulx) is the leader in touchdowns for the league."
The team has a strong passing game as well.
"We pass a lot because we have a really good quarterback," Frappier said.
The team won their game on Oct. 17 at Brennan Park against the Stamps 30-0.
It was a takeover from the start.
"The first play of the game was only supposed to give us five yards," Frappier said.
It was a run down the middle, and it turned into a 60-yard touchdown. The team also got a defensive touchdown.
Quarterback Rory Reece threw a bootleg pass to Cory Constantin, who caught it for a touchdown.The offensive line helped the team win the game last Sunday too. Although offense needed some practice with the technical aspect of the game earlier in the season, it finally meshed.
"We had a hard time with our offensive line, but it played well in the game," Frappier said. "It took a few games and a lot of hard practice for the offensive line to come through."
Michael Moorman has also been a strong player for the team. Frappier said Moorman has "lots of energy, lots of spunk."
"He's been on all the tackles that have been made by our defence."
Strong players help keep the game moving for the Titans, but it is the whole team that makes the season so successful.
"We've got a lot of stars on our team, but they wouldn't accomplish anything without the line," Frappier said.
"I'm really proud of the kids," Frappier said. "We have the chance with this team to go all the way."
The Titans are not a big team. There are only 20 players aged 12 and 13.
"We started with not a lot of players, but with the players we have we built a contender team," Frappier said.
The team has to prove its up for the challenge this weekend. The Titans play the Eagles Sunday (Oct. 31) at Brennan Park at 12 p.m. In September, the Eagles beat the Titans 13 - 0.
"I think if we win one last game we'll go to the playoffs," Frappier said.
