Bare-knuckle boxer Sonny Smith wins bout, now to head to Thailand for final

Squamish's Sonny Smith, beat Jonny Lawson on July 29 in London. He goes on to face Scott McHugh for the finale in December.

Squamish bare-knuckler boxer, Sonny Smith, toppled his opponent and will now go on to the final.

According to , Smith beat his opponent, Jonny Lawson, on Saturday, July 29, in London at The O2 Arena. While it was unclear in the video if the decision was unanimous or split, one thing was certain: Smith was the winner.

Now, Smith to face Scott McHugh, who beat Aaron Sinclair.

Smith previously told The 小蓝视频 this particular fight has some added challenges since he won’t know his opponent until the day of the match and there’s a several-hour time change that he needs to adjust to as he headed overseas just a few days before the match.

But Smith also said he’s been training a lot with Cole Smith at Roundhouse Martial Arts and Fitness as well as “visualizing” his opponents beforehand.

“He's taken me under his wing basically,” Smith said about Cole Smith.

With the victory, it seems the training and visualization has paid off.

For his match against McHugh, he’ll have lots of video to review as McHugh has over 10 fights under his belt.

Before the fight on July 29, Smith said McHugh would be a tough opponent.

“He's the main threat, if you will. He's the best one,” he said.

Smith previously said that barring injury, he hopes to fight again in September in London.
