As the world’s financial markets ebb and flow, there is a certain peace of mind in knowing your money is at work in the hands
of professionals.
It takes the guesswork out of the equation, as well as emotion—two factors that can hinder your long-term financial strategy.
“As a financial advisor, moving into 2020, I think we have a very important role to play,” says Steven Praet, who has an up-and-coming practice
in Squamish with Edward Jones investment firm, working alongside long-established financial advisor Mike Nasu.
Steven and Mike understand that investors, from all walks of life, are looking for someone who can guide them and look after them. Edward Jones has been doing just that for nearly 100 years*.
For the eighth year in a row, Edward Jones Canada has ranked “#1 in Investor Satisfaction with Full Service Brokerage Firms,” according to the 2020 J.D. Power Full-Service Brokerage Investor Satisfaction Study.
“This doesn’t happen by accident,” says Steven. “We focus on making a difference in the lives of our clients
by helping them achieve financially what is most important to them. We apply an investment philosophy that emphasizes quality, diversification
and long-term solutions although diversification does not guarantee a profit, nor does it protect against loss.”
Unlike competitor brokerage houses and banks, Edward Jones is not accountable to shareholders; rather, the brokers are accountable to each other, and most importantly, to their clients.
That’s an important distinction for Mike.
“We use a human-centred complete wealth management approach, focused on quality investments for our clients.”
Edward Jones has always stayed
the course with its philosophy of maintaining quality investments, aligning their clients’ portfolios with their financial goals and not today’s headlines.
“There is a difference between investing and speculating. We are investment professionals,” says Mike.
What does that mean for Mike and Steven?
“Edward Jones is not a job; it’s a career,” says Mike, who has been building his business in Squamish for the past 16 years where he enjoys his involvement with the Rotary Club and teaching Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
“I’ve been around for a long time and this firm is in line with my values,” he adds.
The same is true of Steven, who came to Edward Jones two years ago with a goal of building a business in the local Squamish community and putting his executive MBA and Masters in Applied Economics to work.
“I’ve worked in banking and in big financial technology firms and I’ve never been part of a business that has such a strong client focus,” he says of Edward Jones.
Originally from Belgium with
banking in his blood, Steven moved
to Canada eight years ago looking for international experience and a place to leverage his education which he has found in Squamish.
“We help people by giving them a more holistic understanding of where their finances are today and project where they will be at retirement age to meet their goals.”
With Edward Jones and its proven track record, Mike and Steven know they are steering Squamish residents in the right direction for their long-term financial success. They remain committed to be an integral part of the local community, now and into the future.
