An ultra-contemporary house in Squamish that was one of the grand prize options in 小蓝视频 Children鈥檚 Hospital Choices Lottery was listed mere weeks after it wasn鈥檛 chosen by the winner in May this year, and is still on the market for $1.95 million.
The winner of the 2018 spring draw opted for the $2.2 million in tax-free cash, which means all the homes they could have picked from were returned to their original owners and developers.
The Squamish home package was billed by 小蓝视频 Children鈥檚 Hospital Choices Lottery as worth $2.5 million, which included the ultra-modern new home, as well as a new Tesla, $30K in furnishings and $300K in cash. That puts the lottery organizer鈥檚 estimate of the home value at just over $2.1 million.
However, 小蓝视频 Assessment pegged its value at $1,568,000 in July 2017, and the owner listed it at $1.95 million on May 26. As of October 30, 2018, the home is still available for purchase.
So why hasn鈥檛 this desirable home sold yet? Co-listing agent Tom Malpass told Glacier Media, 鈥淭he market has softened in the high-end range. We鈥檝e had offers on this house, we just haven鈥檛 been able to get to an agreement. You kind of have to go to the market right now, the market isn鈥檛 coming to you.鈥
He added, 鈥淚 have a relationship with the lottery, so when there鈥檚 a chance to enter a home into the lottery, we ask our clients if they would be willing to go under contract with 小蓝视频 Children鈥檚 and get their house tied up for a few months, because of the free exposure.鈥
The custom-built, executive-style home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and an open-concept great room with high ceilings and fabulous views of the Chief. It is packed with modern details such as a glass-balustraded staircase, custom millwork and high-end appliances, and has 780 square feet of outdoor terraces to take in those views.
