Fire set at Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's home is the latest in a string of political violence

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro angrily called for an end to rising political violence just hours after a man broke into the governor鈥檚 mansion and set it on fire, forcing Shapiro and his family to flee into the night.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro angrily called for an end to rising political violence just hours after a man and set it on fire, forcing Shapiro and his family to flee into the night.

It was the latest in a string of partisan .

鈥淭his kind of violence is becoming far too common in our society. And I don鈥檛 give a damn if it鈥檚 coming from one particular side or the other,鈥 Shapiro said. 鈥淚t has to stop.鈥

While police have not said what might have early Sunday, court documents say the suspect admitted he hated Shapiro and was plotting to beat him with a hammer.

鈥淭he attacker basically wasn鈥檛 a fan of anybody,鈥 President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday. 鈥淎nd certainly, a thing like that cannot be allowed to happen.鈥

Democratic National Committee office shot up

A volley of BB pellets and gunshots were fired at the glass front door and a window of a Democratic National Committee office in Arizona on three separate occasions last fall. Authorities said a had more than 120 guns and over 250,000 rounds of ammunition in his home.

Nancy Pelosi鈥檚 husband attacked at home

Current Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, a Democrat, was the target of a at his campaign headquarters on Feb. 14, 2022 but was uninjured, although a bullet grazed the sweater he was wearing. The man who shot him was later convicted and sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison.
