Letter writer calls out "numerous expensive anonymous city council attack-flyers have been sent out over the past many months".

Numerous expensive anonymous city council attack-flyers have been sent out over the past many months.

I read them all.

Common sense says that someone very wealthy from somewhere has an agenda and is attempting to manipulate the election.

The items on the flyers discuss the supposed failures of this council — what is not mentioned is that most municipalities in 小蓝视频 are addressing very similar challenges.

These issues are not unique to Squamish.

The attack is based on a false narrative for the benefit of those with a questionable agenda, even a threatening one, according to ‘Eyes on Muni Hall’ by Helmut Manzl in the Sept. 22 issue of The 小蓝视频.

What kind of council would come with those who benefit from these flyers?

There is a saying: A true democracy requires constant vigilance. Our democracy hangs on a thread right now () and as democracies fail, they are often replaced with totalitarian rule, oligarch-corporate servitude or a form of technocracy, leading to loss of freedoms and sovereignty, loss of informed consent, loss of the freedom to think individually, and loss of freedom of movement.

This has happened in the blink of an eye throughout history, and we see it right now in China.

Given the nature of these attack-flyers, I have an inclination to vote for those attacked. While I do not know who these ads are favouring, I for sure know that these attacks did not originate them.

I thank them for having the courage and the moral stature it takes to stand strong in their civic duty and to run again in hopes of contributing to our beautiful mountain community.

(Of note: I do not know any of the councillors, nor have I ever spoken to them.)

Let us in Squamish stay vigilant and do our best to keep our people-power (demo-cracy). As citizens, our civic duty, if we actually want a democracy, is to remember that transparency brings trust and to demand honest information and principles of decency.
