Stephen Rochetta.

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Stephen Rochetta (age 62) on Nov. 5, 2024 while fishing with friends.

He is deeply missed by his wife Cindy, their children Matthew, Heather (Nick) and Erin, grandchildren Kayden, Zoey and Liam, sister Carole-Ann and his faithful canine companion, Murphy.

Steve was passionate about his family, sports and his work protecting grizzly bears and the environment. Much of his spare time was spent hunting, fishing, clearing streams and rescuing salmon fry.

He lived his love for hockey by coaching his son’s and grandson’s hockey teams and playing for the Tuggers.

The wildlife and their habitat have lost one of their greatest spokespeople and the Boston Bruins one of their most devoted fans.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Steve’s friends Brian Klassen, Rick Merkel and Tate Patton, fisheries officers Pascal Gauthier and Kirsten Lee, helicopter pilot Doug Arno and Dr. Lewis who did everything they could to save Steve’s life.

A memorial service will be held on Dec.14th at 2 p.m. at the Cheakamus Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Coast to Cascades Grizzly Bear Initiative (contact: erica@coasttocascades.org ) or to a charity of your choice.
