Canadian Permanent Residency information session in Squamish

A free information session will be at the library Feb. 27 for students and workers.

Hosted by the Squamish Newcomer Services and featuring a regulated Canadian immigration consultant, the event will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Squamish workers or students hoping to become permanent residents of Canada can attend a free information session at the Squamish Public Library that will give them tips on how to make that happen.

The session will explain the permanent residency, or PR, process and the best strategies and pathways to becoming a permanent resident of Canada. Topics covered include: 

  • Federal and provincial PR programs
  • How to receive Express Entry, which is a fast application processing time, through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Recent immigration updates: Changes to the National Occupation Classification (NOC) and Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) required for occupations 
  • How to apply for Permanent Residency
