The show opened on Wednesday (April 28) but the special gala evening is set for tonight (April 30) with a reception following the show. Other dates include Saturday (May 1) and next week from (May 5) to 8. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the musical beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at HSSS and Stylezone at $7 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. For the gala tonight, the price is $12, but I believe tonight's performance may be sold out.
You are invited to attend the Sea to Sky Singers spring concert on Sunday (May 2) at 2 p.m. in the Squamish Baptist Church at 2262 Read Cresc.; there will be some wonderful music and songs as the theme is A Tribute to Mothers. The choir director is Veronica McPhee and the accompanist was to be Tim Shoults, but following his accident, Tim is pleased that former choir director Colleen Koop has offered to take on his role. A young man with a great voice, Aaron Purdie will also perform as well as fiddler Jocelyn Pettit and pianist Siew Wan Khoo. Ticket outlets are Billie's Bouquet, Highland Video, Mostly Books and at the door at $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students and children under five admitted free with a ticket holder.
The Squamish Estuary Conservation Society will hold its annual bird count this Sunday (May 2). Participants are asked to meet at the Howe Sound Inn at 7 a.m. for a fun morning observing and enjoying nature. Please note that the count is one week earlier than usual because of Mother's Day the following weekend. When you take part in the bird count you are adding to the valuable data that helps the society understand trends and patterns of bird life in our estuary. Have you chosen your favourite frame in the silent auction at the Squamish Public Library yet? The bidding closes at 2 p.m. this Sunday (May 2). All participants are invited to attend the reception on Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. An award will be presented at 1:50 p.m. to the artist of the frame voted People's Choice. Proceeds of the auction go towards enhancing and advertising the Foyer Gallery at the library.
Saturday and Sunday (May 1-2) the Squamish Valley Quilter's Guild invites you to the Squamish Public Library to view the quilts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion and new members (including beginners) are welcome. There are approximately 35 women in the Guild.
Have you seen the television ads for The Weekend to End Breast Cancer? Each participant is asked to walk 60 kilometers and raise $2,000. The dates are Aug. 20 to 22 when the mystery route in Vancouver will be made known. Participants will sleep in tents overnight. The money raised will go to the 小蓝视频 Cancer Foundation for genome therapy. The Squamish Music and Art Exchange Society Smart Exchange presents "Ordinary Views with a Secret Side" featuring Eric Muller. There is an artist's reception Friday (April 30) at 7 p.m. at the Newport Gallery at 38055 Cleveland Avenue. The exhibition continues until May 27.

Well, if one of these creatures is your pet, then you qualify for entry into the Squamish / Whistler Crime Stoppers Pet of the Month Fundraiser. Any type if pet qualifies. Applicant forms are available at local pet stores or from the local vets. Other outlets are Greyhound, Burneing Images, Glacier Interiors and Eagle Run Coffee Company. Fill in the form, attach five dollars and a photo of your pet. Monthly winners receive a great photo from Burneing Images of your pet (including yourself if you wish) plus some gifts from many supporters. All proceeds remain in our community to support Crime Stopppers' activities.

Preparations are underway for the annual Spring Garage Sale, bake sale and raffle sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary to Squamish General Hospital. It will be held in St., John's Anglican Church on Saturday, May 8 at 9 a.m.
The Elks and Royal Purple Ladies will be canvassing the community on Saturday (May 1) for contributions to help purchase and fund travel expenses, eyeglasses and much needed equipment for challenged children. Your generous contributions enable to continue this valuable service.
