Who amongst us hasn't dressed up as a pirate to climb up a mountain? 馃彺鈥嶁槧锔

During a trip to Nch’岣礱y虛/Garibaldi Park, well before Halloween, this group of mountaineers decided to get into costume as swashbuckling pirates.

The caption included with the photo reads “Piracy on the high alps!”– perhaps a nod to the popular opera of the time Pirates of Penzance, or an inside joke between friends that is lost to time.

The photo was found in one of Beverley Cochrane Cayley’s mountaineering albums made in 1926. Next time you're in the mountains, don’t forget to take some pictures to make some treasured memories yourself.
