Squamish bus stop now without shelter: Here's why and when it鈥檚 changing

In the midst of Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road intersection upgrades, Squamish's bus stop moved to Diamond Head Road. Discover why it lacks a shelter and when relief is on the way.

As part of the District's Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road intersection improvements, the previous bus stop was moved from Garibaldi Way to the corner of Diamond Head Road.

Only, to date, the new stop didn't have a bus shelter, which was a potential burden on seniors, folks with mobility issues or just those who wanted shelter from the elements while they waited to go downtown by bus.

But the wait is almost over. 

A spokesperson for the municipality said the District has received funding for a new shelter on Garibaldi Way (eastbound) at Diamond Head Road through the 小蓝视频 Transit Shelter Program. 

The construction of the concrete pad is complete and the District is just awaiting a timeline for shelter installation from 小蓝视频 Transit, said the spokesperson.
