ICYMI: Just around the corner: Squamish spring break activities

If you鈥檙e sticking around, there are some great opportunities to keep the children entertained.

For the Sea to Sky School District, this year鈥檚 spring break is from March 16 to April 1, with students going back on April 2.

Those with children are surely already looking ahead to spring break in Squamish.

For families who are sticking around for part or all of the break, here are some local things to look ahead to (ordered alphabetically).

Act Alive Academy

Act Alive Academy is hosting two camps over the break called Somewhere Over the Rainbow: A Musical Theatre Journey to Oz and Swiftly to Broadway: Musical Theatre Goes Pop. 

The first camp calls for kids aged three to 14 and goes from March 18 to 22. Ages three to six costs $230 and go from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. program is available for ages five to 14 and costs $430.

Swiftly to Broadway is happening the following week from March 25 and 28. The camp is for ages five to 14 and goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

“This camp is tailored for Swifties of all ages and genders because pop music is for everybody! It's not just a camp; it's a journey through the magical world of Taylor's lyrics and infectious beats,” .

Arrow Wood Games

Arrow Wood Games in downtown Squamish has several daytime activities happening for kids and youth during spring break.

One of the co-founders emailed The 小蓝视频 saying they have Pokemon and Dungeons and Dragons programs for new and experienced players. The store's website shows some of the offerings are for a couple of hours over a few days and single-day activities as well. On Friday, March 29, the whole family can participate in a learn-to-play Dungeons and Dragons event.

Finally, the opportunity to rent a table by hour and try out new board games is available throughout spring break as well.

Britannia Mine Museum

Mini Mud Monsters is happening at the museum on Sundays to Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. from March 18 to 28.

“Delve into the fascinating realm of environmental remediation, where we'll uncover the vital lessons learned from Britannia Mine's battle against acid rock drainage,” .

The museum will also have its annual Easter celebration from March 29 to April 1, with visitors able to go on a self-guided scavenger hunt with prizes for finishers.

Typical admission prices apply with an adult ticket costing about $42, youth ticket (13 to 17) about $32, child ticket (five to 12) about $24.

Cloud Gymnastics

Cloud Gymnastics has some full-day camps and skill-specific camps available.

Full-day camps go from about 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and have space available for ages three to five, happening from March 19 to March 22. The following week from March 25 to March 28, there is a camp for ages 5.5 to 12.

Additionally, there are several two-hour skills classes available on March 18, 20 and 22.

Happimess

If art is your thing, then Happimess has a lot of availability and folks can pick several dates or only one day if needed.

From March 18 to 22 and March 25 to 28, parents and guardians of children aged five to eight and eight to 12 can pick what dates work best for them. Each day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs about $84.

“Join our Spring Break Art Camps – where young artists ages 5 - 8 and 8 - 12 explore paintings, drawing, watercolour, and crafts,” for Happimess.

KiddoSTEAM

KiddoSTEAM is launching its first spring camp for school-aged children between five to 10, according to the program manager Teresa Pena.

"KiddoSTEAM is launching our inaugural spring camp for school-aged children, featuring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) oriented activities. It will take place at Skyridge Montessori facilities," Pena wrote in an email to The 小蓝视频.

The program will take place from March 18 to 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The full week costs $300 or $70 daily drop-in.

"Each day will feature two interactive sessions covering various STEAM topics, complemented by physical activities and two hours total of outdoor play. The STEAM session structures include an introduction and icebreaker activity, understanding thought processes, the subject to be studied itself, and questions and answers sessions. The subjects included, but are not limited to: physical and chemical phenomena, animal kingdom, coding principles, properties of materials, and arts and creativity," reads the website.

Sea to Sky Gondola

The is offering a discount during spring break this year.

From March 11 to 28, the gondola is offering a free child or youth ticket with the purchase of an adult or senior day pass. Annual pass holders can receive 50% off for up to two children per visit also. Tickets need to be purchased online beforehand.

Additionally, on Sunday, March 31, the gondola will host an Easter Egg Gathering from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. near the summit lodge, which can be attended by annual pass holders or with day passes.

“Discover friendly woodland characters and chocolate eggs around our Summit Lodge (*based on current trail conditions, the Easter Egg Gathering will loop around the Lodge and finish in the Plaza area),” .

There is also a buffet-style Easter brunch available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at $42.50 for adults and $25 for kids under 12.

Squamish Academy of Music

Squamish Academy of Music is hosting its Broadway or Bust camp for kids aged six to 12.

“Students in this group will work together to present a complete musical at the end of the week! Students will develop their singing, acting, and dancing skills through games, exercises and the staging of a musical,” reads the website.

The camp goes from March 18 to 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a performance on March 22. This session costs $440.

The following week there are two camps: Sing Out and Beginner Piano.

Both run from March 25 to 28, but Beginner Piano is in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., whereas Sing Out is from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both are for children aged six to nine, and both cost $210.

Squamish Minor Hockey Association

The Squamish Minor Hockey Association has several opportunities for lots of ages.

Happening between March 18 and 22, the association has numerous options for U7, U9, U11, U13 and goalies.

The U7 costs $125 for the week. U9, U11 and U13 costs $350 for the week. Goalies cost $250 for the week.
