Victoria man found dead in Spain after going missing in July

Scott Graham, 67, was on vacation in Europe when he went missing.

Missing Victoria man Scott Graham has been found dead in Spain, Victoria police confirmed Tuesday.

“The circumstances of Scott’s death remain under investigation by Spanish authorities at this time, but are believed to be non-suspicious,” said Victoria police spokesman Bowen Osoko.

“Thank you to everyone who shared Scott’s information and supported his family’s efforts in their search to locate him. Our thoughts are with Scott’s family at this difficult time.”

Graham, 67, disappeared after visiting the Canadian Embassy in Madrid on July 15. Graham had gone to the embassy for help after the bus he was travelling on drove off without him, taking his medication, phone and passport with it.

Graham had an appointment to return to the embassy on July 18 to pick up a new passport, but he did not show. He also missed his return flight home from Amsterdam airport on July 29.

In August, Graham’s daughters Kaiza and Georgia and Georgia’s partner James travelled to Madrid to try to find him.

In September, local MP Laurel Collins wrote to Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly on behalf of the family, outlining their concerns about the way they believe Graham was treated by embassy staff.

The minister has asked for “a complete understanding” of how the department and the embassy have dealt with the situation and will report back to the House at a later date, Robert Oliphant, parliamentary secretary for Foreign Affairs, told the House of Commons.

A Facebook page called has not been updated.

More than $29,000 was raised to support the Graham family in their search.
