Police arrested a man from Surrey after the discovered a large amount of cocaine in his vehicle.

Police say they intercepted a 28-year-old man carrying 73 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle on a 小蓝视频 highway earlier this month.

小蓝视频 Highway Patrol officers and Sicamous RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 8 in 小蓝视频’s Southern Interior on Highway 1 near Malakwa. Insp. Lori Orstad believes the find has all the earmarks of organized crime.

"This is a very large amount of drugs, so [we] certainly expect to see an impact on the illegal drug-trafficking operations within the province,” said Orstad.

The driver is not being identified until charges are approved, but police say he is a Surrey man.

Orstad said the operation that found the cocaine is part of an ongoing effort to remove "dangerous drugs from circulation" and prevent them from reaching 小蓝视频 communities.

Police officers from Burnaby and Nelson were also involved in the seizure.

The driver has since been released on conditions and is expected to appear in court.

The vehicle was seized and the investigation is ongoing.
