Just after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, RCMP were notified about a vehicle that crashed through a barrier on the second floor of the Thunderbird parkade at the University of British Columbia.
Police said the vehicle fell to the first level.
Sgt. Kris Clark says officers found a concrete barrier hanging precariously above a vertical black sedan.
"The vehicle appeared to contain a single occupant who had apparently suffered significant injuries,鈥 says Clark.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) responded to U小蓝视频 as well and had 10 pieces of apparatus on the scene.
The man couldn鈥檛 be extracted from the vehicle due to the "imminent danger" created by the damaged structure.
VFRS was able to secure the vehicle and then safely extricate the man. Clark says the man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Fortunately, no one else was injured and the scene was made safe for first responders by fire and rescue personnel,鈥 says Clark.
The University of British Columbia cancelled all in-person learning on Wednesday due to snow.
