Mechanical issue halts 4 小蓝视频 Ferries sailings between Horseshoe Bay, Nanaimo

An alternate route from Tsawwassen to Duke Point is being suggested to travellers.

Four sailings have been cancelled on July 12 due to a 'mechanical issue' on a vessel.

A mechanical issue has halted a 小蓝视频 Ferries vessel causing cancellations on a busy route between West Vancouver and Vancouver Island. 

小蓝视频 Ferries announced on Friday morning just before 7 a.m. that four sailings are cancelled. 

"We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations,” the statement read. 

Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay sailings at 6:30 a.m. and 11:25 a.m. have been cancelled and the 9:05 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. sailing departing from Nanaimo’s Departure Bay have also been cancelled. 

Mechanical difficulties with the the Queen of Oak Bay backup power supply led to the cancellations.

Other sailings are expected to proceed as normal and an alternate route from Tsawwassen to Duke Point is being suggested. 

"If you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, you will hear from our Customer Service Centre who will let you know if we can fit you on an alternate sailing later today," says a spokesperson. "If your booking must be cancelled. In the case of a cancellation, we will refund your fees and/or fares."

The next available sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo is at 8:40 p.m. as the 4 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. are both full.

The Queen of Cowichan is operating and running at 4 p.m. from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay with space still available as of Friday morning.
