He is strong and he is healthy,” the update read. “Unfortunately, a follow up MRI scan shows evidence of a traumatic brain injury and his prognosis has become very guarded at this time. Despite efforts to rouse him, Carson remains unresponsive and on life supports, with his loved ones agonizing at his bed side.”
The teen’s family has been told that, because of his severe brain injuries, he will likely need lifelong supports.
The fundraiser is seeking support from the community to help the teen and his family in his recovery “in any way we can.”
“Can you imagine? Carson is 18. He is a kind and wonderful kid. He was in the prime of his life, with so much to look forward to,” the update states, noting that Storey enjoys camping, concerts, sports and coaching a U13A hockey team in Coquitlam. “He is truly loved by all who know him.”
As of Thursday afternoon, they had raised almost $19,000 toward their goal of $75,000.
