The Denman cable ferry was held up for several hours between Buckley Bay and Denman Island on Monday afternoon after a fishing vessel’s anchor got stuck in one of the ferry cables when the anchor was dragged in high winds.
The coast guard and divers were called in to help remove the anchor line.
The company initially issued a notice saying the Baynes Sound СÀ¶ÊÓƵor’s 1:05 p.m. sailing to Denman Island was delayed because of the problem.
At 3:15 p.m., the company issued another notice, saying the ferry was still holding in place near Buckley Bay. The issue was resolved just before 5 p.m. and service resumed.
The Baynes Sound СÀ¶ÊÓƵor is the only cable vessel in the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Ferries fleet.
It travels on one of the world’s longest cable-ferry routes, with a cable that is over two kilometres long.
