A pickup driver who allegedly tried to pull the driver of a Toyota Yaris from their car got a 90-day driving prohibition and had his truck impounded after failing a roadside alcohol screening test.
The incident happened at the intersection of Kelly Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway on Friday.
West Shore RCMP received a report about 6:35 p.m. that the driver of a 1990 Suzuki pickup had sideswiped a 2010 Toyota Yaris.
While the two vehicles were stopped at the intersection, the driver of the Suzuki approached the driver of the Yaris and tried to physically pull them out of the vehicle.
When police arrived, they determined the Suzuki driver, a 31-year-old Metchosin man, was showing signs of alcohol impairment.
He was directed to provide breath samples into a roadside-screening device, which resulted in a “fail” reading.
Police issued a 90-day roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
The victim was unharmed and declined to pursue assault charges.
