Delta Fire Chief Guy McKintuck told the Optimist that at 2:37 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the property at 3553 Arthur Drive.

“Incident command observed smoke coming out of all sides of the building,” said McKintuck. “All occupants had evacuated and there were no injuries reported.”

McKintuck said the fire attack team made entry into the house and extinguished the fire and at this point (just before 4 p.m.), crews are preforming salvage and overhaul activities.

He said the fire is not considered suspicious, but there is a fire investigator at the scene.

McKintuck could not say exactly where the fire originated from, but did say the fire involved two or three rooms at the back of the property.

In all, 22 firefighters were on scene with six apparatus.

“It is obviously a substantial fire,” he said. “The fire crews did a very quick entry and an aggressive fire attack, so great job on their part.”

Delta police are on scene assisting with traffic control. 小蓝视频 Hydro and Telus crews are also on scene.

As of 4:15 p.m., traffic was moving again as police and firefighters cleared the area.
