Coyote attacks man and woman near east Richmond elementary school

The victims were treated for minor injuries they sustained in the Hamilton neighbourhood incident.

Coyotes are known to wander around various neighbourhoods in Richmond.

Two residents in East Richmond's Hamilton neighbourhood were attacked by a coyote last weekend.

A man and woman were walking near Hamilton Community Park when they were attacked around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, according to the 小蓝视频 Conservation Office Services.

The coyote followed the pair as they tried to leave the area, 小蓝视频 Conservation added.

The two victims had minor injuries as a result of the coyote encounter and received medical attention.

Signs warning residents and community members about the incident were put up in the area and at Hamilton elementary.

The conservation office said it's monitoring coyote activity in the area and responding to concerns as needed.

"The (conservation office) encourages people to take precautions in case of coyote encounters, including travelling in groups and ensuring pets are leashed," they said.
